If one believes that one is made in the image of God, that God has created us "good" to be and do good, just as we are, then it is sin to diminish ourselves in our thoughts, words, and actions. Women in particular tend to do that. If we are to love others as ourselves then it is a sin to not love self. By loving self I am not talking about being self-centered nor selfish, but rather having compassion for one's self and one's broken pieces of self, for we are all broken humans - broken by life's challenges, broken by health, broken by family, broken by "failures", broken. When one can have compassion toward one's self, can truly see one's self for who one is and forgive one's self by loving self with all of one's strengths and weaknesses, good parts and less than good parts, then one is also able to love others with the same kind of compassion. This enables a fuller sense of love, one that sets aside judgement for love, and one that encourages greater insight and maturity in all of one's relationships.
